Now common in both the medical and motion picture industries, Omnica helped pioneer radio opaque and retro-reflector markers used in medical telemetry and motion capture applications. DFMA and manufacturing fixtures were also developed for prototyping quantities during development.
Thermastar™ for Volcano Therapeutics – Intravascular thermography device for research. This system measures minute interior artery temperature changes and identifies areas where arterial plaque may form. We proved feasibility of the client’s proprietary arterial catheter, and based on that technology we developed a complete diagnostic system which could be used in a clinical setting. We designed a custom keyboard, the PC cart housing, a handheld controller, and the video-based GUI for the operating software. Our in-house team managed the manufacture of the rotomolded parts, controller and keyboards. We prototyped and assembled 10 fully operational units.
Omnica partnered with the client’s engineering resource to develop a multi-modality (PET, ESPECT & CT) laboratory instrument for imaging small animals. Our major responsibility was the Industrial Design, the external skin engineering and DFMA. The client asked us to build a full-scale non-functional mock-up which was an opportunity to push our 4X8 CNC router to its full capabilities.
