Misonix Nexus

Nexus is a next-generation integrated ultrasonic surgical platform that combines all the features of Misonix’s existing solutions, including BoneScalpel, SonicOne and Sonastar, into a single fully integrated platform that will also serve to power future solutions. The Nexus platform is driven by a new proprietary digital algorithm that results in more power, efficiency and control. Nexus uniquely incorporates RF capabilities, allowing for use in general surgery procedures. The device also incorporates Smart Technology that allows for easier setup and use.

Physicians will be able to utilize Nexus’ increased power to improve tissue resection rates, in concert with its proprietary digital algorithm to perform more efficient bone removal procedures. In addition, Nexus’ ease of use will enable physicians to fully leverage Nexus’ impressive capabilities via its digital touchscreen display and smart system setup.

SSO₂ THERAPY FOR AMI

Current standard of care for the most severe heart attacks involves mechanically opening the blocked artery using percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), otherwise known as angioplasty and stenting. While PCI has reduced early mortality post-heart attack over the past 25 years, significant myocardial tissue (heart muscle) death and sizable scarring may be present even after the left anterior descending (LAD) artery has been stented. This myocardial damage is linked to increased risk of heart failure and long-term mortality².

SSO₂Therapy is a novel treatment that complements PCI and is designed to minimize myocardial damage caused by acute myocardial infarction in qualifying patients suffering a LAD ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) event who are treated with primary PCI within 6 hours of symptom onset. SSO₂ Therapy delivers superoxygenated arterial blood directly to at-risk myocardial tissue and is performed in the cardiac catheterization laboratory immediately after PCI is completed.

Cartridge Development

Omnica design engineers have been involved in the development of laboratory IVD instrumentation, including: photometric, amperometric, fluorescent and chemiluminescent clinical and immunoassay analyzers, immunoassay washers and liquid handling devices, microfluidic POC cartridges, sample preparation & input devices, cell lysis, magnetic bead handling, precision thermal control, high speed PCR amplification, mass spectrometry ion sources & consumables, and lateral flow test strips. These projects often require a feasibility and proof of concept ‘Phase 0’, which Omnica’s in-house resources are well equipped to handle.

Trans Cranial Doppler

R&D requires low-volume, functional prototypes and fixtures. This project’s goal was to detect and quantify particulate passing through the carotid artery during coronary surgery. The results were rather stunning and enabled our client to better understand vital program issues.

Kinterra Foot and Ankle System™ for Freedom Innovations® – The system the new state-of-the-art for adjustable prosthetic ankles, which features internal temperature fluid compensation, and a mechanism fitted with industrial-quality seals, rendering it virtually maintenance free.  It offers improved stability and comfort for low to moderate impact users while walking, exercising, golfing, or hiking. We developed the overall styling (I.D.) of the ankle, and the mechanical engineering – hydraulics, pivots, shafts, valves, assembly and fixtures.

Vision Restoration Therapy Device

This portable instrument treats with NovaVision’s VRT therapy technology to provide improvement in the range or sensitivity of the patient’s field of vision.  Omnica developed this home use transforming device to accommodate a full range of patient percentiles and provide a convenient way to go mobile with your therapy.  NovaVision’s VRT uses repetitive light stimulation to activate impaired visual functions in areas of partial injury (“transition zones”), strengthening the residual vision and neuronal networks. The concept of repetitive stimulation has proven effective in the recovery of other functions such as movements of lower limbs after stroke.

Vibratory Therapy Device

Omnica designed and engineered Rapid Release’s PRO2, a lightweight FDA registered Class 1 medical device that is ergonomically designed to provide the maximum amount of comfort to patients and practitioners. PRO2 delivers precisely targeted energy that relaxes muscles and relieves minor aches and pains by combining high speed vibration and a short-stroke. Five built-in treatment heads that deliver precise, continuous vibration treating a variety of aches and pains. Using the PRO2 gives practitioners the dynamic range to safely and effectively treat the smallest TMJ muscles to the more expansive muscles (quadriceps, hamstrings, lower back, etc).

IZI Autoloader

Now common in both the medical and motion picture industries, Omnica helped pioneer radio opaque and retro-reflector markers used in medical telemetry and motion capture applications. DFMA and manufacturing fixtures were also developed for prototyping quantities during development.
