Retinal neurodegenerative diseases like age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy or retinitis pigmentosa are the most frequent causes of incurable low vision and blindness worldwide*. One of the key reasons people with retinal disease lose sight and become blind is the demise of neurons and supporting cells in the retina. Emerging science has indicated that neuroprotection of these relevant cells, such as retinal ganglion cells, photoreceptors, and retinal pigment epithelium may be a promising strategy to treat retinal diseases.
In this webinar, our panel of scientific experts and entrepreneurs will discuss the science, potential causes, impacts and areas of discovery and investment they feel are primed to meet these challenges. The key areas they will focus on include glaucoma, nonexudative age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and inherited retinal diseases.
